Cigna Healthcare says it "will no longer offer Individual and Family medical plans for 2027." Its provider notice says these plans are discontinued on and off the Marketplace effective January 1, 2027, coverage continues through December 31, 2026, and letters went to customers on July 1, 2026. Cigna says its dental plans will continue to be available for 2027 and beyond.

Which Tennessee counties are affected
In the 2026 plan year, Cigna sold individual medical plans in rating areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6: 65 of Tennessee's 95 counties (CMS QHP Landscape PY2026). It did not sell them in the Upper Cumberland (rating area 7) or South Central Tennessee (rating area 8).

This is the 2026 list. The 2027 insurer and plan list appears on HealthCare.gov on November 1, 2026; check it before you choose. The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance keeps its own list of ACA individual-market carriers.
What to do if your plan is ending
- Read your notice from your insurer and from HealthCare.gov.
- Update your HealthCare.gov application after November 1, including your 2027 income estimate.
- Compare 2027 plans on doctors, hospitals, prescriptions, deductibles and total yearly cost, not just the premium.
- Pick a plan by December 15, 2026 so coverage starts January 1, 2027 with no gap.
- Don't count on automatic re-enrollment. If you do nothing, HealthCare.gov may place you in a different plan. It may not include your doctors or be the best price.
Losing coverage can also open a Special Enrollment Period, but in this case the simplest route is to choose during Open Enrollment.
Are 2027 premiums going up?
Tennessee insurers filed rate changes for 2027. A secondary source that tracks state filings reports a weighted average increase of about 15.6% for Tennessee's individual market Not confirmed. We could not confirm that figure on a Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance or CMS page, so treat it as an estimate. Your own price depends on your plan, age, location and tax credit. Actual 2027 prices post on HealthCare.gov on November 1.
