Your Open Enrollment checklist
- Update your income estimate for 2027. Savings are based on the coverage year, not last year.
- List your doctors, hospitals and prescriptions, then check them against each plan's network and drug list.
- Check whether your current insurer and plan are still offered for 2027 (see the 2027 insurer exit).
- Don't rely on automatic re-enrollment. Prices and tax credits change every year.
- Decide whether you also want dental or vision coverage.
Common questions
What if I miss December 15?
You can still pick a plan through January 15, 2027, but coverage starts February 1.
Can I enroll after January 15?
Only with a Special Enrollment Period, usually after a qualifying life event such as losing other coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby.
